TechCrunch DISRUPT Europe 2013

At TechCrunch DISRUPT Europe in Berlin (Oct 25 – 27, 2013), coders, hackers, engineers, and designers from multiple countries spent the last 24 hours to build the best product possible. Top price was $5000 with many other sponsored prizes [tablets, vouchers/certificates, trips (flights/accommodations), cash] also handed out by the following companies: Crunchbase, Foarsquare, Lufthansa, Mashery, PayMill, Zalando, Weather Underground, Xing Yammer.

The winner was the team that created Foursquare preCheck-in. The Foursquare preCheck-in gives users the possibility to let people know about locations they plan to visit allowing both the user and his friends to learn about their similar travel plans and possibly align plans to see each other. Additionally, from a commercial aspect, the feature can allow businesses to offer relevant services (hotels, rental cars) for the upcoming travels that are shared with the community.

Runner-ups were A Colorful Gift and Teleapp. A Colorful Gift allows wedding couples to crowdfund their honeymoon among their friends in a playful way. Teleapp is a Chrome extension that recognizes App Store links on the page you’re reading and let’s you push them directly to your iPhone to download the app on your iPhone in one click. As a prize, both teams have the opportunity to pitch their product at the TechCruch conference.
