Using a cool little app called wpToGo I am writing my first blog from my G1 Google phone. It’s pretty cool that I can post to my blog from my G1 without having to visit my website.
Positives:
* Free app via download Google’s Android Market
* Blogging on the go – No PC required
* Ability to take pictures with the G1 and instantly insert them into your blog
* Easy to use
Cons:
* Mini slide-out keyboard is difficult to type a blog with
* The app provides basic functionality and lacks many features available with WordPress (ex: password protection of posts, ability to set trackbacks, etc…).
* No preview mode for viewing before you publish
* Missing easy meta tag insertion functionality (critical for page hits and search rankings)
* Can only place images above or below text
Overall – very cool! It’s hard to complain much about a free app. The size of the app is very small – 107 kb, and it uses a subset of SOAP called the xmlrpc protocol to communicate with WordPress. The app currently lacks many features, but it gets the job done. Thank Roundhill Labs for providing this great little free app.
