In a previous blog I demonstrated using the VMware VI (vSphere) Java API with VMware ESXi (see prior blog Using the VI Java API with VMware ESXi). I’ve decided to add to this code to provide further functionality and demonstrate the power of the API. In the prior blog I created a vSphere Client in Java from scratch to connect to VMware ESXi and perform basic management functions. Using the VI Java API with VMware ESXi

Earlier this year, when I first thought to test out the VI Java API, I estimated I would spend several hours learning the API just to write a simple test program. I was surprised when in less than two hours, I had created my first java program for my ESXi server. Granted it’s a simple program, but the ease and speed of creating something that interacts with my ESXi server was impressive. (more…)
